Crosswalk Productions began in Landmark, Manitoba, under the name of Crosswalk Players. Its original mandate was to bring new, creative and different theatrical works to the South East region. When it began, Crosswalk partnered with church communities in Landmark and Steinbach primarily as dinner theatre (The Princess Bride & Oscar). Later, it branched into Musical theatre (Footloose, Suessical, and I Love You, Your Perfect Now Change) in Steinbach and summer Fringe Festival Hits (What About Luv?, Mid-Life: the Crisis Musical, and The Brain From Planet X). It kept up its seasonal tradition of dinner/dessert theatre (Blind Date/The Problem, and Clue), and once transformed the Mennonite Heritage Centre Auditorium in Steinbach MB into a nightclub for the show 'The Birdcage.' Crosswalk Players ended after their extremely successful, critically acclaimed Winnipeg Fringe performance of Cabaret in 2012.
Crosswalk Productions came into being with some of the original leadership team shifting focus from Southern Manitoba to Winnipeg. In 2015, Crosswalk remounted 'The Birdcage' at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival to sold-out crowds and high praises. Crosswalk still has the mandate to bring creative works to the stage, with hopes to keep it focused on local Manitoba artists, or Amateur Playwrights. We are working hard to promote creativity and expression.
